Both Fall NACs Close Today, 205 Events Are Wait-List Only, and Winter Still Has Room

Registration for the October NAC and the November NAC closes today, Wednesday, September 23. The marquee epee fields at both, Division I Men's Epee and Junior Men's Epee, have been wait-list only for days. The rest of the November card does not look like that, though. Cadet Men's Epee is at 259 of 336, and Junior Men's Foil and Junior Men's Saber are both around 70%. If your fencer is heading to Columbus and hasn't registered, today is the day.
Across the country we are tracking 44 upcoming tournaments with 276 events at 80% capacity or higher, and 205 of those events are full. Since our report last Friday, at least 28 events that still had open spots have gone to wait-list. They include four fields at Salle Auriol's December RJCC in Seattle and the last Cadet and Junior Men's Epee seats at Morris Cup. At AFM Super Regional in Santa Clara, three more fields are gone.
The calendar keeps refilling, though. The big January through March regionals that opened in the last few weeks are still mostly empty, and one more (American Challenge in Hartford) opens tomorrow morning.

These fields are gone. We list them so you know what happened, and because a wait-list spot at a full tournament is still worth taking if it's the one you need.

New opportunities: open now, room in the popular events
These are the ones to spend your attention on this week. Each one opened in the last few weeks or has room in the fields that usually fill first: cadet, junior, and youth epee and foil. Given how this fall has gone, don't expect that room to last.
- American Challenge SYC/RJCC, Hartford, CT · Mar 19–21, 2027 · registration opens tomorrow, Thursday Sep 24, at 9:00am Pacific. A 36-event SYC/RJCC for the Northeast. Put it on the calendar and register the morning it opens.
- Miles Chamley-Watson Cup RYC/RJCC/ROC, Providence, RI · Feb 5–7, 2027 · closes Jan 8. Opened on September 17 and has 123 fencers against 3,353 total spots, the largest block of open capacity in the country. The busiest events so far are Y12 Men's Epee at 13 of 70 and Cadet Men's Epee at 16 of 91.
- Mary Rafanelli RYC/RJCC, Pasadena, CA · Mar 12–14, 2027 · closes Feb 18. Also opened September 17: 184 fencers in five days against 2,803 spots. Women's foil is filling first, with Y14 at 24 of 126 and Cadet at 19 of 112.
- Elite Cup RYC/RJCC, San Diego, CA · Jan 16–17, 2027 · closes Dec 28. Now 968 of 2,671 spots. Youth 14 Men's Epee is at 80 of 105 (76%) and will cross 80% any day. Most other fields still have plenty of room.
- Capitol Clash SYC/RCC & Y8, Oxon Hill, MD · Jan 16–18, 2027 · closes Dec 14. 567 of 3,266 spots, and Y12 Women's Epee (39 of 119) is the fullest event. The mid-Atlantic's big January youth event is wide open.
- Battle At The Beach 5, Jacksonville, FL · Jan 29–31, 2027 · closes Jan 4. Went live September 18 with 66 events, and 10 fencers have signed up so far.
- Boston Fencing Club RYC/RCC, Norton, MA · Dec 19–20 · closes Nov 30. This one is the exception, filling quietly at 307 of 417 spots (74%). Y14 Men's Epee is at 47 of 60. With caps this small, it will show up on our wait-list table soon.
- Fencing Center of Chicago RYC & RJC, Lake Barrington, IL · Dec 12–13 · closes Dec 7. Open since September 12, with 32 fencers so far.
- Cherry Blossom D1A/VET, College Park, MD · Mar 13–14, 2027 · closes Mar 1. Newly open, 5 fencers so far.

The fields that close first are always the same: cadet and junior epee, then youth foil and epee, weeks ahead of the posted deadline. This fall has shown it at every scale. Both November NAC epee fields went to wait-list two months out. A Seattle RJCC has sold out every tracked field in September for a December event. And four more events at one Las Vegas youth cup filled in five days. If your fencer missed a full field, the January to March regionals above are still wide open. The difference between a confirmed spot and a wait-list is registering the week a tournament opens, not the week before it closes.
