Region 1 Tournament Watch: Salle Auriol's December RJCC Is Sold Out, and the Seattle Vet Cup Opens Next Week

Pacific Northwest fields are small, so they close fast, and this week showed it. Since our report last Friday, eight Region 1 events that still had spots have gone to wait-list. The biggest move was at Salle Auriol Seattle RJCC (December 19–20). Four fields went full in five days: Cadet Men's Saber, Cadet Women's Foil, Junior Men's Saber, and Junior Women's Foil. That puts every event we track at the tournament on the wait-list, three months before it starts.
We are tracking 7 Region 1 tournaments with 47 events at 80% or higher, and 37 of them are full. Here is what is gone, what is closing, and where the room is.

On the national side, registration for the October and November NACs closes today, September 23. Division I Men's Epee is wait-list only at both, and so is Junior Men's Epee at November NAC. Other November fields still have room: Cadet Men's Epee is at 259 of 336 and Junior Men's Foil at 236 of 336.
New opportunities: room in the region right now
Battle in Seattle: Bellevue · Jan 16–17, 2027 · closes Jan 4
A Division IA card with room in every event: 102 fencers against 546 spots. D1A Men's Epee (33 of 91) and D1A Men's Foil (30 of 91) are the busiest, and the women's fields are barely started at 11 of 91 in both epee and foil. This is the region's January D1A event for senior fencers chasing rating points.
Emerald City ROC: Seattle · Nov 7–8 · closes Oct 21
The card is 191 of 434 overall, even though Division II Men's Foil is almost gone. Div II Men's Saber (23 of 35) and Div II Women's Foil (22 of 35) have room, and Adult Combined Men's Epee is at 18 of 42.

Apart from the Y12 Men's Foil wait-list, this youth cup is 177 of 399 overall. Y12 Men's Saber is at 15 of 21, Y14 Women's Foil at 19 of 28, and Y12 Women's Foil at 14 of 21. Salle Auriol's December RJCC sold out in September, so don't wait on this one.

- Seattle International Veteran's Cup (Seattle, Mar 20–21, 2027). Registration opens Wednesday, Sep 30 at 9:00am Pacific.
- Rain City Super Youth Circuit (SYC) (Bellevue, Apr 23, 2027). Registration opens Oct 29 at 7:00am Pacific. An SYC in Bellevue will draw from the whole Northwest, and Rain City's fall cards are already mostly wait-listed.

- SAS Youth/Teen Foil and Epee #1 (Seattle, Sep 27; closes Sep 25): 49 of 140 spots, covering Y10–Y14 foil plus Y14 and Cadet epee.
- Spokane Season Opener (Spokane, Sep 26): 27 of 60.
- MTFC D & Under Mixed Foil (Lakewood, WA, Oct 5): 11 of 25.
- SAS Saber #1 (Seattle, Oct 24): Y10 through Senior saber, 43 signed up so far.
- SAS Youth/Teen Foil and Epee #2 (Seattle, Oct 25): 24 of 140.
- SAS E & Under Epee (Seattle, Oct 30): 11 of 36.
- SAS Foil and Epee Challenge #2 (Seattle, Nov 1): 26 of 108.
Region 1's caps are small (10-, 12- and 14-fencer youth fields, 21 to 35 at cadet and junior), so one club's worth of registrations can close an event overnight. That is what happened to four Salle Auriol RJCC fields this week. The fall RJCC and RYC cards are mostly gone. The places to look now are Battle in Seattle in January, the Salle Auriol RYC's open fields, and the Seattle Vet Cup opening on September 30. Register when a tournament opens, not when it's about to close.
