Region 6 Tournament Watch: Peachtree Is Closed Out, and Five Big Winter Regionals Are Wide Open

Region 6 has the most room of any region right now. Only one USA Fencing regional in the region has an event at 80% or higher: Peachtree RYC/RJCC (Suwanee, Oct 3–4). There, Junior Men's Saber and Youth 12 Men's Epee took their last spots since our report last Friday, and all five tracked fields are now wait-list only. Everything else on our Region 6 list is a local AskFRED event. Overall we're tracking 10 Region 6 tournaments with 25 events at 80% or higher, and 14 of them are full.

That leaves a lot of open USA Fencing capacity this winter: Kiefer Meinhardt in November, Fairfax in December, Capitol Clash in January, Battle At The Beach at the end of January, and a newly open D1A/Vet event in March.

On the national side, registration for the October and November NACs closes today, September 23. Division I Men's Epee is wait-list only at both, and so is Junior Men's Epee at November NAC. Other November fields still have room: Cadet Men's Epee is at 259 of 336 and Junior Men's Foil at 236 of 336.

Battle At The Beach 5: Jacksonville, FL · Jan 29–31, 2027 · closes Jan 4, 2027

Went live on September 18 after sitting as a pre-announced placeholder. It is a 66-event card, the biggest in the region, and only 10 fencers have registered so far. Field caps aren't published yet. It's the Southeast's marquee late-January regional, and almost nobody has noticed it's open.

Capitol Clash SYC/RCC & Y8: Oxon Hill, MD · Jan 16–18, 2027 · closes Dec 14

567 fencers against 3,266 spots. The fields filling first are the usual ones: Y12 Women's Epee 39 of 119, Cadet Men's Epee 46 of 168, Y14 Women's Epee 46 of 175, Y14 Men's Epee 49 of 196. Every event has room. It's the mid-Atlantic's big January youth event.

Fairfax Challenge ROC, RJCC, RYC: Fredericksburg, VA · Dec 18–20 · closes Nov 30

243 of 2,198 spots across 54 events. Junior Men's Epee is 29 of 119 and Cadet Men's Epee 25 of 105. Y14 Men's Saber (7 of 28) has the smallest cap, so it's the field to watch.

Kiefer Meinhardt Cup SYC/RJCC/Y8: Glen Allen, VA · Nov 14–15 · closes Nov 1

720 fencers already, with Cadet Men's Epee at 48. USA Fencing hasn't published caps, so we can't show percentages, but that's a lot of interest for a November SYC.

Cherry Blossom D1A/VET: College Park, MD · Mar 13–14, 2027 · closes Mar 1, 2027

Opened September 17: a 12-event Division IA and Veteran card with 5 fencers so far. It's a good spring target for senior fencers.

Region 6 is the exception this fall. Outside Peachtree, the region's USA Fencing regionals still have room, and some are barely started. That won't last. Elsewhere, the big regionals (Region 4's AFM, Region 3's Morris Cup, Region 5's Austin) sold out their cadet, junior and youth epee fields weeks before the deadline. Nashville closes Monday. After that, Kiefer Meinhardt, Fairfax, Capitol Clash and Battle At The Beach are all open today. Register for the ones you want now, while you have your pick.
