The December SJCC Now Closes October 18, Pizza and Cobra Nearly Doubled Their Full Events, and Winter Still Has Room

USA Fencing extended regular registration for the December SJCC in Milwaukee (Dec 4–6). It was set to close October 7. It now closes Sunday, October 18. 1,708 fencers have entered, up from 1,375 a week ago. USA Fencing hasn't published caps for it, so we can't tell you how close any one field is to full. The November NAC in Columbus is in late registration until November 19, at USA Fencing's late fee of about four times the normal entry.
Across the country we are tracking 55 upcoming tournaments with 395 events at 80% capacity or higher, and 242 of those events are full, up from 221 last week. The fastest-filling were two November regionals in Region 3: Pizza RYC/RJCC in New Haven went from 10 full events to 18, and Cobra Challenge SYC/RCC in Secaucus from 9 to 17. One tournament went the other way. Austin Challenge in Round Rock raised its caps in most fields, so it has 11 full events today instead of 19.
The room is in winter. Capitol Clash, Elite Cup, Chamley-Watson, Wildcat and Rafanelli all grew this week and still have space in most fields. Team.K in Pomona opened since our last report, and five more Junior Olympic qualifiers went up on AskFRED.

November is this week's lesson. Pizza and Cobra lost 16 fields between them in seven days, and both are still open: Pizza closes October 23 and Cobra November 1. Austin shows that an organizer can add spots, but you can't plan on it. The December SJCC got eleven more days, and they run out Sunday. For winter, Capitol Clash, Elite Cup, Chamley-Watson, Wildcat, Motor City, Team.K, Rafanelli and American Challenge all have room right now. Register the week a tournament opens, not the week it closes.
